Time: 11:00am - 12:30pm (On the trail 11:00am - 12:00pm / Coffee & light snacks 12:00pm-12:30pm)

Whether hiking trails for fitness or to escape the urban environment, we often focus on the walk itself. This hike aims to increase your enjoyment of trail hiking by teaching you about the flora around you and encouraging you to look a little more closely at your surroundings.

Paul Courville began his career creating maps and entering data for the OMNRF. His curiosity about the data being collected led him to pursue opportunities to gather it firsthand. He then worked on a forestry research project that used LiDAR technology to develop a Forest Resource Inventory for Central Ontario. Following that, he contributed to another research project focused on classifying ecosites in Northern Ontario. Although his career path has since taken him beyond the forestry sector, he continues to enjoy reconnecting with the natural environment and sharing his knowledge with others through teaching.

Please note that this program may be cancelled due to inclement weather. If cancelled, the alternative date will be Tuesday, November 3, 2026. If the alternative date does not work for you, please contact us at extendedlearning@nipissingu.ca
