This camp is perfect for ages: U14 to Varsity
Time of day (pick up/drop off start 30-mins prior): Schedule varies based on day.

Welcome to the Nipissing University Nordic Ski Dryland Testing Camp.

The purposes of this camp are to set benchmarks for training progress according to XCSO provincial test protocols, and to establish technique cues in weight-lifting and roller-skiing.

Please note all campers MUST provide their own equipment.

Schedule

Friday, June 26:

- 3pm Meet at Nipissing University Athletics Building (100 College Drive)

- Camp orientation meeting in the Athlete Lounge

- Uphill Running Test (2.6km for U18-varsity & 1.1km for U16 juniors)

- Game

- 6pm Team Dinner at Lake Nipissing Waterfront (225 Memorial Drive)

- 7pm Pick Up at 225 Memorial Drive


Saturday, June 27:

- 9am Meet at Nipissing University Athletics Building

- Nipissing Exercise Physiology Lab for Ski Erg Critical Power Test. Test protocol: maximal efforts over 30 seconds, 2 minutes and 4 minutes with 5 minute recovery between intervals to graph power output over time. U16 skiers: double poling technique and maximal (6-10 second) sprints.

- 1pm Athlete Lounge

- Fueling for Sport session with Tara Blake, RD

- Yogurt bowl and granola assembly - Skiers to bring a 1/2L container with a lid

- 2pm Weight Room

- Functional movement screening and weight-lifting technique. Pull ups; broad jump; hex agility test; XCSO filed testing description: Excellence in Action: XCSO Introduces Field Testing Program - Cross Country Ski Ontario

- Game - Quidditch

- 4:30pm Athlete pick up at Nipissing University Athletics Building


Sunday, June 28:

- 9am Meeting at Nipissing University Athletics Building

- Uphill rollerski test (timed)

- Game

- 12pm Athlete pick up at Nipissing University Athletics Building


Please bring: Snacks; sports drink and carrier; heart rate monitor (or watch); indoor and outdoor runners; skate rollerskis, boots and skate poles with sharp tips; ski walking poles; classic ski boots; helmet; gloves; bright shirt or safety vest for all on-road rollerskiing; change of clothes and shoes; swimsuit and towel; rain jacket and hat; lunch; 1/2L container with lid - Always come prepared!
